The folks at Hillsboro Downtown Partnership are the gears behind the machine of Downtown Hillsboro. You might see us decorating the holiday tree in the Civic Plaza, cohosting a neighborhood tree planting with Friends of Trees at M&M Marketplace, helping a business with a grand opening, welcoming thousands of trick or treaters to Halloween in Downtown, or tens of thousands of eventgoers to Holly Days. Almost everyday of the year you will see our staff in their orange vests and little red pickup collecting trash and removing graffiti around Downtown.
We also do lots of things behind the scenes that you probably would never guess. In our building, the Downtown Hive, we host the Hillsboro Tuesday Night Market, the Hillsboro Farmers Market, the Westside Queer Resource Center, and a Book Store for the Friends of the Hillsboro Library. We also act as a mailing address and meeting space for several other local nonprofits and a fiscal sponsor for both of the Markets (making donations to them tax deductible).
We humbly hold our role as steward of the Downtown Hillsboro brand (website and socials) to elevate our small businesses, community organizations, and neighborhood initiatives. We look for ways to partner with our City and other local municipalities and service providers to ensure that as we progress into the future, that we prevent the displacement of our residents and resources, preserve our cultural assets, rebuild our connections to nature and a local economy, and strive for the most livable, welcoming community imaginable.
Every $1.00 we receive from the community to make these small and lofty actions happen is leveraged with no less than $3.00 in additional funding from government and private grants, sponsorships, in-kind donations or services and materials, and volunteer hours towards Downtown Hillsboro. We may be a small, yet mighty staff, but with the backing of a community like ours we can make Downtown Hillsboro a place you are proud to claim as yours!
