Our Story

Our Story

We are a new organization that was formed in December 2014 and began operations on September 1, 2015. We are not the first organization to take on the revitalization of Downtown Hillsboro, but our founders set us up for success by establishing HDP as a 501(c)3 nonprofit and creating the Economic Improvement District to give us a consistent funding source.

Our Purpose

HDP is the boots-on-the-ground, go-to economic and business development organization in Downtown Hillsboro. We are known for connecting businesses to the right people and resources, making it easier, more enjoyable and more profitable to do business Downtown.

We work to preserve what makes Downtown Hillsboro unique while supporting the progress that will keep Downtown relevant into the future.

Our Partners

We know diversity of our businesses is key to building resiliency to thrive in any economy. We also know making it easy to do business in Hillsboro is key to attracting diversity. And, we’re off to a great start.

We’ve got professional services and one-of-a kind artisanal shops and retail stores. We’ve got friendly restaurants, live music, arts, and more starting to attract a later night crowd. Our district is going strong and business opportunities are abundant.

With Hillsboro Downtown Partnership, our businesses now have a boots-on-the-ground, go-to ally to connect them to the right people and resources, making it easier, more enjoyable and more profitable to do business Downtown.

COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY

As a public benefit 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, Hillsboro Downtown Parternship is committed to accountability through transparency and fiduciary responsibility. A high priority is ensuring HDP members have regular and timely access to information and a firm understanding of the organization’s operations and its ongoing strategic direction. To help meet this commitment to transparency, HDP communicates its actions, decisions, news, programs and initiatives to members and seeks stakeholders’ input and feedback on our programs and processes.

The Board recognizes that strategic deliberations and documents often cannot be made public during their formative and deliberative stages. For example, confidentiality must be respected on a case-by-case basis pertaining to specific contractual agreements, litigation and other interactions that potentially would violate legal agreements.

To illustrate HDP’s continued commitment to being open and transparent in its processes and communications, the following documents and reports are made available to all members:

Here’s what we believe.

We believe Downtown Hillsboro will soon rival the best-known neighborhoods in the Portland metro area.  We believe Downtown Hillsboro can become a destination. For our residents. For those who work in or near our district. For those who might be driving through and “just need to grab a cup of coffee”, but then find themselves wandering through our streets and into our stores. And, for the wanderers, explorers and curiosity seekers, who are looking for the next thing. We want to be that thing —and then keep them coming back for more.

Hillsboro Downtown Partnership is ready to be the driving force to make this, and more, happen for our businesses and their customers.

We’ve got professional services and one-of-a kind artisanal shops and retail stores. We’ve got friendly restaurants, live music, arts, and more starting to attract a later night crowd. Our district is going strong and business opportunities are abundant.
