Sponsoring Downtown

PARTNERSHIP IS IN OUR NAME

We’d like to offer you a chance to be a partner by investing in Downtown Hillsboro with a sponsorship, in return for your business, products, and/or services to access brand exposure to our supportive and engaged community. Downtown sponsorships not only support events and programming in Downtown Hillsboro, they also support the economic vitality, beautification, and activation of the Downtown district year-round. Thank you for your interest in helping preserve the community that exists around our Downtown. The sponsorship opportunities listed below are standard, but if you would like a custom activation opportunity for your sponsorship at $1,000 minimum level or to discuss an in-kind sponsorship, we would like to make that happen.

Community Events

DOWNTOWN BLOCK PARTY - JULY 14, 2023

With the streets closed the day before a weekend long City event almost a decade ago, businesses decided to start their own event by claiming the walkable blocks created by the street closures, adding live music, extending their hours, and inviting the community. This tradition became known as the Downtown Block Party, and we are glad to be the presenters of this event. With around 1000 people in 2019, we intend to make the party even bigger in 2023!

Marketing Audience: Working, socially-engaged adults from within five miles of Downtown Hillsboro, many who walk to the event.

Activation opportunities: We still have an opportunity for a presenting sponsor. There are also a variety of activity areas and performance stages located throughout the footprint of the event that can be customized with your company brand and allow you the ability to interface directly with the participants.

HALLOWEEN IN DOWNTOWN

The story goes that more than three decades ago, Downtown Hillsboro businesses joined together to host the only business district trick or treat event in the nation. It even got national news coverage for being innovative in the era of crazy trick or treating stories. And ever since then, the businesses have been inviting kids and their families in the well-lit shopping district along Main Street. We continue the tradition of closing the street to vehicular traffic to make it even safer. (Event previously known as Safe n Sane.)

Marketing Audience: Diverse families with children ages 1-14 years old from a variety of socio-economic levels, from throughout western Washington County.

Activation opportunities: We still have an opportunity for a presenting sponsor at the 2023 event. We also have opportunities to sponsor specific activities and would love to help find one that matches your brand.

HILLSBORO HOLLY DAYS CELEBRATION

This annual event in Historic Downtown Hillsboro is a pinnacle of the holiday season. Artisans showcase their best handmade work at this bustling market, while carolers, live music, and activities for all ages abound. Downtown merchants will also be open for business with a variety of in-shop activities and promotions. The Civic Center Plaza will be full of holiday cheer and excitement leading up to the awe-inspiring tree lighting. With an estimated 10,000 people at the event each year, this is a favorite event of many locals and their families.

Marketing Audience: This event primarily attracts multi-generational families with children of all ages, as well as both women and coupled seniors from within five miles of Downtown.

Activation Opportunities: There is still an opportunity for a presenting sponsorship role from 2023. We also have many activities throughout the event that are available for sponsorship activation through brand placement and direct engagement if your team is interested.

Placemaking Programs

TIDY UP DOWNTOWN HILLSBORO

Through coordinated projects and individual volunteers, this program provides a framework and resources for keeping Downtown sidewalks, streets, planting beds, amenities, parking lots, and surfaces clean. At least one project that is open for individual registration is coordinated each month, and up to five additional projects are organized around groups. Our first-in partner for this program is SOLVE Oregon, who provides support through recruitment of groups, individuals, as well as supplies.

Audience: These events typically attract high schoolers and their parents, as well as adult students and childless adults from Portland to Forest Grove.

Activation Opportunities: For logo placement on bags and signage to interacting directly with volunteers, there are both individual project and a year-round sponsorship package available for the upcoming year.

HILLSBORO WISHING TREE

The Hillsboro Wishing Tree is a weeping elm at the northeast corner of Main Street and 2nd Avenue in Downtown. But it’s more than just a tree, it is a place of unity where community comes together to share wishes and hopes for the future. It is both a community building activity and an artistic demonstration during the entire month of October, each year.

A group of Downtown volunteers are bringing this international tradition to Downtown Hillsboro for a second year and giving it a Hillsboro spin that will bring community together. This initiative is a product of the Hillsboro Downtown Together Steering Committee, a collaboration of organizations, businesses, and individuals who share a passion for making Downtown Hillsboro a better place.

ARTIST WINDOW TAKEOVERS

This placemaking program meets at the intersection of business, art, and community – the three things that make Downtown Hillsboro vibrant. The Artist Window Takeover pulls juried artists from the community to paint the windows of businesses throughout Downtown – retail, restaurant, and services. While the art is up on the windows for two month stretches during three distinct seasons (Winter, Springtime, and Harvest Season), we highlight the stories of the artists through our marketing channels and coordinate other activation opportunities.

Audience: These art installations attract attention from a variety of community members, both while the installation is in process at businesses around Downtown and as part of the online storytelling campaign that accompanies the takeovers.

Activation Opportunities: Presenting sponsors will have business name and logo placement, in addition to tagging on various social platforms during the in-depth storytelling about the artists and their work. Meet and greets with the artists and hosting businesses can also be arranged throughout the season.

Support Local Programs

BOGO GIFT CARD PROMO

Introduced in the midst of the pandemic, the Downtown Hillsboro eGift Card program encourages people to shop local and support small businesses. The first six months of offering the program led to almost $5,000 in gift cards being purchased. Many communities offering similar programs have found that partnering with medium to large businesses in their community to offer buy-one-get-one offers is a great way to promote it to new audiences and generate the multiplier effect.

BENEFITS OF A BOGO: Prominent name and log placement, tagging, and callouts across both printed and digital marketing channels. Our card provider, Yiftee, can accommodate follow-up emails to purchasers.  Your employees, clients, members, or other stakeholders can get first dibs. And most importantly, you can demonstrate your support for the local economy.

DIRECT-TO-BUSINESSES

We offer a variety of programs for the local entrepreneur, creating a great opportunity to market your B2B services directly to small business owners.

ANNUAL BUSINESS FORUM SERIES – $1,000
EARTH DAY E-RECYCLING EVENT – $1,000
PROFESSIONAL HEADSHOTS DAY – $2,000
