PARTICIPATING IN THE DOWNTOWN GIFT CARD PROGRAM


Hillsboro Downtown Partnership is always thinking of ways to promote and enhance Downtown Hillsboro. That is why we are partnering with Yiftee to provide Downtown Hillsboro businesses with the opportunity to participate in the "local only" approach to gift cards. This program offers a simple way for Downtown Hillsboro businesses to participate in a closed system community gift card.  Rather than giving that employee, coach, teacher or hard-to-buy-for person a Visa gift card that can be spent anywhere, the Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card can only be used at participating Downtown Hillsboro locations. Thus guaranteeing dollars are spent in our vibrant community!

How it works for Customers

After landing on the Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card page on the Yiftee platform, customers will select the value they want to gift. Then they can either print out the voucher or choose a recipient (family, friends, team members) and send it to them directly via email or text message. The recipient can use that value to make purchases at participating Downtown Hillsboro Card merchants.

Redeeming a Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card

  1. Customers show up with a digital gift card voucher on their smart phone or a print out of the voucher.
  2. Key in the 16 digit code, expiration date and CVV, just as you would a Credit Card transaction over the phone.
  3. Any change left on the voucher remains on the voucher.

How to get the most out of the program

A community gift card program helps build community by giving people more reasons to come Downtown, and to come Downtown more often. Your participation in the program demonstrates your support of your business district and other small businesses. 

  • Remember this is not meant to replace your businesses gift card program, but to offer another gift giving option that guarantees money is spent in Downtown Hillsboro. 
  • Train your staff on how to process the Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card like a credit card - NOT like a gift card.
  • Add the Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card link to your website.
  • When you change your POS system re-connect to Yiftee or Hillsboro Downtown Partnership, to ensure the program still works on your new system.

Activate Your Merchant Listing

Once you get the email with the Activate Card Link:

  1. Go to Yiftee.com
  2. Click the Login link to claim your Merchant Portal account.
  3. Click the link “Run Activation Card” at the top of the page and your Activation Card will display.

If you need to resend the card, it can be resent to your email or mobile phone by- clicking the button “Send Activation Card”.

The Activation Card will walk you through steps that need to take place at your register, entering in a 16-digit number, expiration date, and cvv for a $1 transaction. This is your activation process. Your merchant listing becomes “Active” after you run the Activation card through your POS.

How to change/update/customize your listing

  1. Go to Yiftee.com
  2. Click the Login link
  3. Enter the email and password you used to set your account to access the Merchant Portal.
  4. Click “Edit Listing” on the left side panel of the Dashboard. From here you will be able to edit all of your Merchant details.

As your community card program manager, HDP is doing the following:

  • Managing the Community Card Portal.
  • Helping onboard local merchants to Community Card Program.
  • Assist participating merchants with card redemption issues.
  • Recruit local sponsorships to setup buy-one, get one deals.
  • Reaching out to organizations to encourage their purchase of bulk Downtown Hillsboro Gift Cards for holiday and ‘thank you’ gifts.
  • Executing marketing and social media strategies for growth, including posts about this amazing gift idea that can be used for occasions throughout the year - like teacher or coach gifts.
  • Emailing previous purchasers of the Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card to remind them of the program.
