Plaid Friday is the relaxing and enjoyable alternative to the big box store “Black Friday,” and is designed to promote both local and independently owned businesses the day after Thanksgiving.

A NEW TRADITION

The name Plaid Friday was conceived from the idea of weaving the individual threads of local businesses together to create a strong fabric that celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses. The tradition of Plaid Friday was created in 2009 in Oakland, CA and adopted in Downtown Hillsboro in 2018. Besides creating a way to keep holiday shopping sane, it is also new way to motivate folks to shop local. 


OTHER DETAILS

PARKING: There is plenty of street parking Downtown on holidays. A sure bet, is one of the City lots off of 2nd Avenue. They are located:

  • At the SE corner of SE 2nd Avenue and SE Washington Street.
  • On the south side of the Hillsboro Civic Center, on SE Washington Street between SE 1st and 2nd Avenues.
  • On the west side of NE 2nd Avenue, mid-block between NE Lincoln and Jackson Streets.
