The Hillsboro Downtown Partnership (HDP) is a non-profit community development organization dedicated to making Downtown Hillsboro a vibrant, inclusive, and economically thriving destination. As a designated 2026 Affiliate Main Street America™ program, we use a proven, preservation-based approach to champion the cultural and economic soul of our historic district. Whether you are a local business owner, a resident, or a visitor, HDP serves as your "boots-on-the-ground" resource for connection and growth.
What We Do
Economic Vitality: We support small businesses with technical assistance, marketing resources, and grant administration. From launching entrepreneur cultivation programs to managing the Downtown Hillsboro Gift Card, we make it easier and more profitable to do business in the heart of the city.
Placemaking & Design: We lead the charge in beautifying our streets. Through Contracts with the City of Hillsboro and through our monthly "Tidy Up Downtown" litter pick-ups and seasonal "activation" projects—like decorative lighting, planters, and public art—we ensure Downtown feels welcoming and cared for.
Community Events: HDP brings the district to life with inclusive programming. We coordinate major local favorites such as La Strada dei Pastelli, Halloween in Downtown, and the Hillsboro Holly Days, drawing over 60,000 visitors annually to support our local economy.
Small Business Advocacy: We act as a conduit between the City of Hillsboro and our stakeholders, helping businesses navigate resources like storefront improvement grants and infrastructure updates.
The Hillsboro Downtown Partnership (HDP) takes a hands-on approach to neighborhood stewardship through its monthly "Tidy Up Downtown" events, organized in a long-standing partnership with SOLVE Oregon. Held twice monthly—typically on the first Sunday and third Monday—these volunteer-driven clean-ups bring together corporate teams, local students, and "neighborly folks" to remove litter and graffiti throughout the historic district.
By collaborating with SOLVE, HDP provides participants with all necessary supplies, including high-visibility vests, litter grabbers, and heavy-duty bags, ensuring that every volunteer can safely contribute to a cleaner, more welcoming environment. These events do more than just beautify the streets; they serve as a vital community-building tool, allowing residents to take direct ownership of their downtown while assisting HDP staff in identifying larger maintenance needs like illegal dumping or hazardous waste removal.
