Hillsboro City Council Unanimously Approves Three-Year Investment in Hillsboro Downtown Partnership

HILLSBORO, OR — In a unanimous vote, the Hillsboro City Council has approved a three-year investment not to exceed $360,000 to support the continued revitalization, beautification, and economic vitality of Downtown Hillsboro through the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership (HDP).
The investment provides long-term stability for Downtown Hillsboro's nonprofit Main Street organization, allowing HDP to plan and implement initiatives that strengthen local businesses, enhance public spaces, foster community connections, and leverage additional grants and private investment over the next three years.
"This is a tremendous investment in the future of Downtown Hillsboro," said Harrison Butler, Executive Director of the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership. "We are incredibly grateful to the Mayor and City Council for their confidence in our organization and, more importantly, their belief in what a thriving downtown means for our entire community. This commitment gives us the stability to think beyond the next budget cycle and focus on creating lasting impact."
Just one year ago, the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership received a one-year funding commitment while embarking on a renewed strategic vision for the organization. Over the past year, HDP strengthened its governance, expanded direct business outreach, deepened partnerships throughout Downtown Hillsboro, and made a deliberate investment in culturally inclusive programming and engagement. Through bilingual outreach, partnerships with community organizations, and events designed to celebrate the rich diversity that defines Downtown Hillsboro, HDP has worked to ensure that revitalization reaches every corner of the downtown district. The unanimous three-year commitment reflects confidence not only in the organization's progress, but also in a shared vision of a downtown that is vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.
Over the past year, HDP has continued to expand its impact by supporting local businesses, coordinating beautification efforts, activating public spaces through community events, strengthening relationships with property owners and community organizations, and operating The Downtown Hive, a facility that serves as a collaborative resource center for nonprofit organizations, volunteers, businesses, and downtown initiatives.
The three-year investment will allow HDP to continue and expand efforts to:
Enhance the beauty, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere of Downtown Hillsboro.
Support existing businesses while encouraging new investment and entrepreneurship.
Expand culturally inclusive outreach and partnerships that reflect the diversity of Downtown Hillsboro.
Create community events and experiences that bring residents and visitors together.
Pursue grants, sponsorships, and partnerships that multiply the impact of local investment.
Build long-term initiatives that strengthen Downtown Hillsboro's economic vitality for years to come.
As a nonprofit organization, HDP serves as a catalyst for collaboration, bringing together public, private, and volunteer resources to accomplish projects that strengthen Downtown Hillsboro while maximizing the value of every public dollar invested.
