Downtown Hillsboro Blue Moon Bakery Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Downtown Hillsboro, March 22, 2024 – Blue Moon Bakery proudly announces the grand opening of its new location in Downtown Hillsboro, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its history. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 26th, 10:30am at 403 SE Baseline St, Hillsboro, OR 97123, and will be attended by Mayor Callaway and the historic Hillsboro downtown community. This event will celebrate the inauguration of what promises to be a gluten-free donut paradise.

The decision to establish Blue Moon Bakery in Downtown Hillsboro was deeply rooted in a sense of community and nostalgia. Owner Melissa Brue shared, "Downtown has been such an integral part of our business and family. I love Hillsboro’s downtown; my family has lived in the downtown neighborhood for over twenty years. My kids grew up here, and we visited many of the downtown shops regularly while they grew up. Our bakery has been near downtown for over 16 years…it’s nice to officially be part of the downtown community."

Blue Moon Bakery's journey began in 2008 when it started as a home baking venture, offering delicious cookies at Hillsboro’s downtown Saturday market for thirteen seasons. After a brief stint as a home baking business, it moved into its own commercial kitchen just a few blocks from downtown. Specializing in gluten-free delights, Blue Moon Bakery has since expanded its reach, offering local pickups, partnering with retail outlets, and shipping nationally. In recognition of its commitment to quality and taste, the bakery was honored with the title of Hillsboro’s best bakery in 2023.

What sets Blue Moon Bakery apart is its dedication to providing safe and delicious gluten-free options in a market where such choices can be scarce. Owner Brue explains, "Being gluten-free can be challenging. It’s hard to find safe places to eat. We’re Hillsboro’s first dedicated gluten-free bakery. Not only can you find sweet treats in our shop, but you can also order and find gluten-free groceries and favorite treats you can’t get anywhere else."
