Strengthening Our Roots: The Hillsboro Small Business Stabilization Program

Hillsboro is more than just a place on a map; it’s a community built by the hard work of local entrepreneurs. From the smell of fresh bread at our local bakeries to the vibrant shelves of our independent retail stores, small businesses are the heartbeat of our city.

However, we know that many of our local staples have faced significant hurdles recently. Whether it’s the ripple effects of economic instability or a reduction in customer base resulting from ICE activity, the City of Hillsboro is committed to standing with our business owners.

To provide direct support, the City is launching the Small Business Stabilization Program Grants. Here is everything you need to know to secure funding for your business.

💰 Grant Overview

This program is designed to help stabilize and retain the small businesses that make Hillsboro unique.

  • Maximum Award: Up to $10,000 per business.

  • Total Funding Available: $200,000 is dedicated to this round of support.

  • Priority: The program focuses on businesses seeing a reduction in customers or experiencing economic hardship.

🏪 Is Your Business Eligible?

The grant is specifically targeting industries that serve as community hubs. Eligible industries include:

  • Food & Beverage: Restaurants, mobile food services, bakeries, and food markets.

  • Retail: Grocery stores and general retail stores.

📅 Important Dates

Mark your calendars! The application portal officially opens:

Monday, February 9

📝 3 Steps to Get Ready Now

Because funding is limited, preparation is key. Use the time before February 9 to get your paperwork in order:

  1. Review the Fine Print: Visit the City of Hillsboro website to double-check program goals and specific requirements to ensure your business qualifies.

  2. Organize Your Financials: You will need to provide 3 years of financial reports. Having these ready to upload will save you time and stress on application day.

  3. Define Your Plan: How will this money help you stabilize? Whether it's covering payroll, paying rent, or pivoting your marketing, you’ll need a clear plan for how the funds will be used.

Why This Matters

Hillsboro’s strength lies in its diversity and the resilience of its residents. By supporting the businesses most impacted by current events, we aren't just saving storefronts—we are protecting the jobs and the culture of our neighborhood.
